Don't transfer me!

Hello everyone!

In two weeks I have been in this area for six months! AAHHH I am scared! I don't want to leave. The people are all starting to get ready for baptism! We have 4 baptismal dates set for this coming transfer! Pray that I stay!

I am grateful again for your emails. It is so good to hear how you are all doing. It really sounds like you are all having success and that heavenly father is having a hand in all of your lives. He definately has been in mine. I am feeling different at the moment. Like I am learning more about myself and how I am being shown that I need to change. I think the experience I had with Sister Krauss last transfer has shown me a lot about myself. I am really thankful that Heavenly Father gave me that challenge. Mostly that has been my miracle this last week.. learning a lot of personal learning and growth. I would tell you all about except I don't know who is reading this.

We had to push back that Martinez girls baptism because it is the general relief society conference address this Saturday... which means it wont be till next transfer. But even if I get transferred I will have to be here for that.

Can you believe that it is conference time again? I can't! It is just crazy, but I am excited for this conference. I bought Cd's so that we could listen to the last conference in the car and I think we listened to it 3 extra times. That was a blessing.

I don't even know what to tell you! We are so busy at the moment and this area is still being blessed. Sometimes my head spins like... ahhh we have so much to do, so far to drive and so little time and miles!

We had exchanges last week and I was with Sister Chattertown from New Zealand. She is just a new missionary that came out and she grew up in Australia. She mostly lived in Sydney but also in Eight Mile Plains. We had a ton in common and it was sooo weird! It has been a long time since I have been with someone where I was like me too.. wow me too! So that was nice!

We had a cool experience together. Last week me and Sister Moss had a little time to go tracting which was fun. When we were praying I had this house pop into my mind but we both felt like we needed to go another street. We found some people on that street that were interested but they spoke Spanish so we referred them to the Spanish Elders. Then on Wednesday me and Sister Chatterton had some time and that house had been lingering in my head since that first day. We went to the street it was on and parked a few houses down. There was a guy sitting and talking on the phone in a car near us. We walked down to the house and knocked.. no one was house so we just kept knocking on all the doors.. no one was home. But that guy was sitting in his car now and not on his phone so we walked up to the window and started to chat with him. He is looking for something in his life! Woopie! So we got all his details down and he said we can come by whenever we like!

Well I had an amazing week. Me and my companion have so much fun. I still feel like I am the staunch strict one but oh well.. someone has got be and I really feel like I can be honest and fun with her so I am happy. I am thankful for this transfer so I hope I stay for another!

I love you all

Hello

Hello!

Oh my goodness! Guess what?? Paul the 87 year old man is going to get baptised! He is so stinking cute! We have alot more to teach him but he has committed! We went to his wifes grave with him this week and he really appreciated having company there with him. We said a prayer and took photos with him. He just keeps saying that he will do everything that he can to be with her again someday. He is so with it for his age and goes out dancing at the senior citizens club on fridays hehe! I really feel like I was meant to be here for him.

We are also teaching another man named John and he has alot of Potential. He has been coming to church with his friend for a while now and is very receptive. He really has alot of faith and he has committed to praying about the Book of Mormon this week so I willlet you know how that goes.

We had another amazing lesson with Marci. We had originally gone to another persons house and we sitting out the front I just didnt feel like with should be there. We prayed and we both felt like we should go see Marci. It was a big risk going there if she wasn't home cause from where we were it was about a 25 min drive.. which is alot of miles on our mile limit. But we followed our prompting and went. She was home! She has started Chemo and is just such a strong women. Before we went into teach her yesterday we said a prayer and I just felt the spirit so strong. We were there at the right time and I knew that Heavenly Father was guiding everything that we said when we were with her. She needs his support right and I am glad that we are able to be his servants for fullfilling some of that for him.

We are teaching a women named Mercedes and it is hard! She does not believe that Jesus Christ is her Saviour and so she drives the Spirit away alot! She knows we are in her life for a reason...I just want to keep saying.. der look at our name tag there is your answer. But I only really figured that out this last lesson. She has no belief in the atonement but I know that is why we have been sent to her. This week I have been thinking alot about how to teach and so I know Heavenly Father will help me in that. Heavenly Father really loves us he is in everything that we do. He will always give us another chance and he will always allow us our agency. But bare your testimonies! Sister Moss shared an amazing, simple testimony which brought the Spirit back in for enough time for us to recieve revelation that she doesnt have faith in the Atonement. Then Mercedies started talking and chased it out again. There is power in testimony bearing! I hope you all got to do it on fast Sunday.

We have a family that the Spanish Elders are going to teach from now on that is getting married and then baptised all within the next three weeks!! We are going to be busy! We just handed them over to them last night. Turns out I accidently poached them hehe oops! It was a bit of a different situation anyway so they understood and they get to come in at the best part! One day I will tell you all the story but it is too long for me to write it now! But we have handed over 3 families to them now and it stinks! I love finding awesome investigators that commit to baptism straight away and then having to hand them over to the Spanish Elders. But they are awesome Elders so its ok, I'll quit winging!

Well I had better get going!

I love you all and miss you alot. Thank you for all the emails

Bird killer

Hello my wonderful family,

I am still working on getting back to you all! I have a little ways to go on the list! I love you still though!! I am just going on who sent them first!

Well I have had another great week as a missionary! I just love being here! I hope they never move me from this area. I have seen so many miracles personally, in the people that we are teaching, in the ward missionaries, in my companions and in the area as a whole. I just hope that there are more to come! Some baptisms would be nice but our patience is tried for reason! They have more preparation to go through before they make their important promises.

So we will now be spending Friday nights out in Vale so that we can get that area going. We have two new investigators out there already and a few more potentials! One that we started teaching on Sunday and the cute little old man Paul! We will be teaching him this week again and he loved the movie that we left him to watch. He is so cute, I wish you could all meet him! The person that we started teaching on Sunday has been a Catholic and has investigated alot of churches. He loves the community of ours but he also recognised that the other churches don't have the fullness but he thinks ours does! Our lesson actually went for like and hour and a half cause we talked about so much stuff and so indepth! Then we were super late for our next appointment! Woops! I didnt even realise that the time flew by!

But you will be happy to know that other than that one time I have been very punctual to most of our appointments! People out here like to trap us in their homes and talk for ages though so this has been really hard to finally have happen! But I love all the people and they are so interesting!

We taught Marci again last week and she went in for her first round of Chemo on Monday. She just amazes me! Our lesson.. which is more of like a question and answer time was soo spiritual. I cried alot in that lesson.. which compared to other people is not alot because it seems to take alot to get me to cry nowadays... so a tear or two is alot of crying! Any way. I know that I am here for her. The following day she took us to work with her! We went to the place that they make peppermint and spearmint oil. We had a lot of fun with her. She has been working this whole time while she been going through all of her hard times. You can just feel the spirit around her. She is definately being helped in her trials and I am so glad that she has chosen to be faithful rather than bitter.

Ooooh!!!! Guess what is so awesome! Yesterday was miracle Monday again!!!!!
We were at one of our ward mission leaders houses because we had the Martinez family go over there so that we could do family home evening togerther with them. We taught the lesson ofcourse. We taught them tithing and fasting. It was a great lesson! We bought mm's nad gave them 10 then made them give one back and then poured the blessings over them so that the mm's filled their hands. The discussion was really good too. I love the Wagstaffs. I will have to come back and visit them one day.
Ok so after the Martinez family left we were sitting around talking about the work in the area and all of a sudden sister Wagstaff saisd "hey what about the Jordans!"
Remember how like 2 months ago I told about those kids who died driving home from youth conference becuase they ran a stop sign? Well the car that they hit was the Jordans! They live in our area!
We knew that she was inspired to have thought of them. I could feel it. We went straight there and got to their house at 1 minute to 9! Hope Jordan invited us straight in and talked about how the members of the families had treated them and had apologised to them and had so much hope about them even though they were the ones who had lost someone. She said that she understands that we believe differently about after this life and that she would like us to teach her about that!!!! We will wont be able to teach them for about 2 weeks as they are going to be in and out of town because they are rodeo-ers and this is their peak season. But she gave us her number and is superly excitedly genuine about learning!! Had we gone on Thursday... which was the next time we would be in Owhyee where they live then we would have missed them. Wow. It is an amazing moment to see, know and feel that the Spirit has just worked through someone.

Well I had better get going!

I love you all!

Sister Huckfeldt

Oh and P.s... in the last two weeks I have officially killed 4 birds and a ground hog with the car!! Not on purpose but they are still dead lol!! Woops! Apparantly part of my calling write now is to end the lives of some defenceless creatures!

Australian accents please!

Hello my wonderful family!

Im really missing hearing the Australian accent right now.. Weird hey but all these RRRRRss are obnoxious to my ears at the moment hehe. Well not really but I am just craving a little bit of Aussie! People here are still loving my accent. It really has been nice, well a blessing as people seem to warm up to me pretty quick. I hope I hang on to it!

Any way to the important stuff.. Last night we began teaching Paul! An 87 year old man who is sooo cute! I just love him already. He is really really lonely and misses his wife who passed away a year and a half ago. We began teaching him the Plan of Salvation and he was like... can you just skip to the part where you tell me how I will be with my wife again. Then we would be like.. well this is all important so that you understand that a little better.. then he would just keep interrupting like a little kid and Sister Krauss kept trying to keep going on the lesson. Then I was just like thats it, quit talking we are giving him what he wants (nicer obviously).. so I layed out the whole plan and described the three degress of glory. Then I explained the spirit world and told him where she is waiting for him and that he needs to help her be able to get baptised and make it to the celestial kingdom too. Then quite plainly I said" to be with your wife again you will need to get baptised for you, and then in the Temple baptised for her and them be sealed to her for time and all eternity. Then he was listening and we made progress. It was the weirdest Plan of Salvation lesson ever but the Spirit was still strong. He asked a ton of questions that I have never been asked before. We ended up explaining the war in heaven really basically, the millenium, when Satan will be bound etc and he looooved the atonement! That was a very spiritually strong part of the lesson. I got to bare testimony time and time again. It was awesome! We brought some of my most favourite people in the whole world as fellowshippers.. Brother and Sister Jacobs! They did a great job too! Plus! There was one part in the lesson that Sister Krauss listened to what he had said and found the perfect story in the book of Mormon to help him with that and then she described and applied it perfectly! I felt like screaming Hallelujah!!!! I praised her a gazillion times for that! It was what I have just spent the last two weeks trying to teach her to do! Ahhh happy.

We have been working with an excommunicated man as well and he is getting rebaptised this Saturday. It has been a really really rewarding process watching him change and build spiritual strength in this time. Everytime we have gone to his house the spirit could be felt so much stronger. He studies his scriptures for all his lessons is just super dedicated. This week I felt inspired to talk to them about the Temple. I found two talk side by side from this last conference. I forget who by now but one was the cute one from Richard G Scott about how cute he was to his wife. But we primarily used the other one. It was a teary lesson and I know that was what heavenly truly Father desires for him and his wife. They deserve it too. They have worked so hard.

We are teaching two Spanish speaking families that are so amazing! The one that we tracted into two weeks ago.. for their second lesson they got all dressed up and brought their daughter and had kept all of their committments! We have to hand them over to the Spanish Elders but I dont want too! hehe but it is the right thing to do and so I will.

Things have been going pretty good this last week. We are being richly blessed in this area and I know this will continue. I wish I could stay here forever!

I dont know if you can all tell but I am really really loving my mission. There have been some super hard times for me lately where I have just wanted to curl up in a ball and refuse to move. I can see the changes that are coming in the area and in me from these though. We truly should rejoice in our trails and I have sought to do that. I have not been perfect in that but I have truly been trying to do that. I don't think that I am the same person I was 5 weeks ago. It just makes me wonder what else God has instore. His tender mercies have flown here in abundance.

I have also been blessed with letters in this last week! Thank you so much!

Well I love you all and miss you all.

Blessings

Soooooo!! The blessings have been flowing!!!! In the past week we got six new investigators! 3 Yesterday! We are teaching two hispanic families now which has been really different and well kinda stressful cause of all the organising and adjusting schedules I have been having to do. We have been having to make sure that we have an interpreter there cause alot of the Gospel words are new for them and need to be explained and said in their own language. We are busy, but we can always be busier! It is so nice, I just hope that we can give all the love and support to the investigators that they need to feel important. We had miracle Monday again! Three new investigators yesterday! I can see now why I was feeling a few weeks back that there are going to be good things happening in this area. There are amazing things coming up and I just need to trust in the Lord especially now that he will help me be the missionarey that he wants me to be for his children.

Sunday we did a greatful fast where we were purely fasting to show our gratitude. I turned into a massive gumpy pants hehe!! Turns out I can't be fasting, tired, really stressed and a nice person all at the same time hehe! Something had to give! But I just went home and ate and prayed alot and things went much better the rest of the day.

I have been praying really often lately. It has been a wonderful experience feeling Heavenly Father strengthen me as I keep going. I really have felt what the people felt in Mosiah 24. He has strengthened me through my burdens so that they have seemed light. I think I have told you this but I am having a very different experience training this transfer than most people have. I am learning alot of consistency and perseverance. I am learning that Heavenly Father truly gives us trials for a reason and that we should rejoice in them because it is through our trials that he shapes us to be the person he wants us to be. Consistently faithful is something that I am trying to be also. Remembering these things. Staying possitive. Faith is like walking up an escellator going down. If we loose our faith and let fear creep in for one second then you digress. It takes work to get you back to where you were. But you will have learnt from it and hopefully you will understand the importance of being consistent more in the future. Life is for learning so lets keep moving forward!

So some awesome things of being in this area right now is that everyone is picking things from their gardens and giving them to us! We get fresh apricots, carrots, beans, beetroot, eggs, goats milk, onion, hair cuts lol, and huge zuccinis like 50cms long!!! Lucky I love Zucchini cause we have a ton of it right now. It's fun!

So this morning we went and helped sister Facer feed 3 baby goats. Then we went up the road and taught Marty Hunt cause it was the only time she had available that fitted in our schedule and I didnt have time to prepare a lesson cause it was early so I really had to rely on promptings. It went so well. I taught her the Doctrine of Christ... Faith, Repentance, Baptism, HG and Enduring to the end.
I was able to think of scriptures and experiences and ask her questions and Sister Krauss even added something that was perfect and that really doesnt happen that often! It was so awesome. Blessings of sacrifice! Heavenly Father recognises our weaknesses and makes up for them.

Oh my goodness! We had the coolest most guided lesson with the Martinez family too. I got them to stand on one side of the room and takes turns making different decisions (I gave them the scenarios and they either stepped forward or backward). A group decision was baptism. Then they had a few decisons to make after that then I read them this thing I got in twin Falls from Martha Anns mum that just basically tells you over and over again that Heavenly Father loves you and is happy when we make decisions back to him.The Holy Ghost seriously gave me that idea and it is just funny how random things, quotes and other things seem to fit into different peoples lessons. Well the girls want to be baptised and we are planning on having a lesson just with the dad so that we can teach him and talk to him a little better about how he feels! I am so happy. Hopefully that we be happening in the near future.

Well I better go. Wow that was way longer than I realised. Sorry if I bored you!!

I love you all and miss you all!!!

Hiked up Indian Head

Hello Everyone

Marci... the one whose husband just died... well the day we were having our first teaching appointment with her, we went over and she had just got off the phone. She found out she has breast cancer. It makes me want to cry when I think about it. Its just crazy. She was like.. I have to get sealed as soon as possible because I may be going up their alot sooner than we first thought. She is handling it really well. I think she is still in shock. We are here in her life for a reason. I dont know why she is being hit with so many trials but we will just be here to help teach her how her Saviour will hold her hand through it. We hopefully will teach her this week but obviously she has alot to deal with so we are just going with what she can handle. She came to church though!

So when we were at her ward there was a young lady with her daughter their that had worked for Randi (who died). She was really impressed with the funeral and Randi's nephew invited her to church. We had a lesson with her in gospel principles time and we are teaching her again tonight. Cool Huh! I love stuff like that. The members here are amazing!

I am soooo pooped! We just went on a 5 hour long hike. It probably would have been shorter but sister Krauss had some difficulty. Thats a long time to be standing in the sun! My forhead is sunburnt hehe.

So I took Sister krauss on her first tracting adventure yesterday and it was successful! We did our normal praying for inspiration procedure that we normally do and we felt impressed to go to Curtis Street. We went there and knocked the first couple and then down the road a bit there was a house that I felt we needed to go to. When we got there I noticed that it was a house on the street that crossed it, that we had already tracted before where the man was less active and not interested so we didnt knock again. We kept going and got a lot of no's.Then we had 2 minutes before we needed to get to our appointment and we decided to knock the last door. The lady was interested and wants us to come back! Crazy! Had we not felt like we should go to that house earlier then we never would have made it to her house at all! Miracles! The Lord truly sends us to those he has prepared and humbled.

Oh last week we had a new member missionary meeting and it was soo good! I learnt so much. I have alot of improving to do out here still but we just take it one day at a time. Do a little better each day then the day before. The meeting was so spiritual and you can see how much the new missionaries have changed already!

Things are going well here. Sister Krauss is learning. We are seeing many miracles and are working hard. I am tired today hehe! I need a nap after our hike so I am going to leave it there!

I love you all! I love hearing from you all! I love you and miss you!

Sister Huckfeldt

Time flies

Another week has passed by! Sheesh they go quick!

Well this last week held its trails some that I didnt do that well in and some that I did ok. But there were miracles!!!!

We went and visited the Martinez family last Thursday and it was just amazing. I didnt do that good of a job of teaching them but I really think it all happened as it was meant to be. The three little girls are really starting to listen to me and the lesson helped them see how important the Gospel is to their family. We talked about the Atonement and watched finding faith in Christ and that was important for Larry the Dad. They all came to an activity at their new ward had on Saturday (it was Pioneer day here which is a huge deal and I had no idea it was a holiday that even existed). They got to know alot of people and everyone but the dad came to church on Sunday as he was working. He feels alot more comfortable about coming though and he plans to arrange his work schedule so that he can make it cause he really wants it.

So another miracle. We met with Anthony on Friday. It was awesome! We had to ward members come. One he knew and the others he didn't. The spirit was so strong. It was crazy. So he is a diabetic and for weeks I have been feeling like he should fast but keep being like.. what thats weird. What a weird thing to teach a diabetic about. Well any way we taught him that! Plus the conversation progressed to more about the Priesthood and having a blessing. The people we invited to come were definately the right ones. They were very guided in what they said too. He fasted on Sunday, had a priesthood blessing and we set a baptismal date. He is praying this week about that and about how to tell his family which is what he is most nervous about! We will meet with him tonight so we will find out how that is going and we are watching the movie about Thomas S Monson again which talks all about following the Spirit and stuff so that should be good for him at this time.

Ok Coooooollest thing of the week!! This one surely shows us how Heavenly Father prepares people and us missionaries to be there at the right time. I dont know if you will remember or if I have told you about the guy that just died 2 weeks ago here? So sad! We went to the Funeral last week and it was beautiful but it was just super sad but hopeful at the same time. Our funerals are so interesting to me. Any way so we had been working with his wife. Just getting to know her. Going and working with her on her farm and we talked to her at the 4th of July celebration that they had at her parents in Laws house. Well Sunday we prayed if we should go see her and we felt a distinct no! Then last night we were thinking about tracting because that is a requirement of a new missionary is that they go tracting and we had free time. But sitting in the car we went over a few people.. Her name stood out to me and I said the prayer and asked if we should see her or tract or see one other person. Her name was impressed into my mind and into sister Krauss' very obviously for both of us! I had to use the bathroom though so we did that real quick though. Then we drove to her house. Guess who was driving right behind us! Marci. Heavenly Father even knew I had to pee haha! It was perfect timing. She parked her car and walked over to me. Neither of us said anything but we hugged and she cried on my shoulder. From there on I had the most amazing conversation of my mission! She wants to be sealed to him. She wants to be baptised and she asked a million questions that three months ago I would not have been able to answer as well as I did, with Heavenly Fathers help of course. He prepared me. He prepared her. It was so amazing! She is going through alot though obviously but just hearing of the experiences she has been having and everyone else in his family... sheesh! This is what missionary work is all about. These moments. Seeing Heavenly Fathers hand in everything. He times everything perfectly and prepares people perfectly so that he can give them the blessings he wants them to have.

Well nothing else can top that right now but I love you all and I think of you often! Miss you

Love Sister Huckfeldt

A crazy week

Thankyou for your emails! I went down the list in replying and I needed to start this one but hopefully I will have time to get back to all that wrote me!

What a crazy week last week was! I was stressed out of my mind but so much of it was for a good reason! Between Wednesday and Sunday we taught 15 lessons!!! Plus on the new training system we have to study untill 11am so that was an hour less each day... plus i pretty much have to do everything myself as my trainee needs a little extra help in training... like phone calls etc. Plus we had a bunch to do for the baptism!! The baptism was amazing!!! Happy!!! Romiro and Michael were so excited and the Spirit was really there! Ahhh it just makes me so happy! It is amazing being able to be there from the beginning and just see their conversion process! There really is no greater joy! Like in the story of King Lamoni's father. He was willing to give up half of his kingdom for his life and then for the joy that comes from the gospel he was willing to give up everything! Ahhh ok any way Sister Westover came back for it and it went so well! We organised food for after it too so everyone got to mingle for a little bit!

After the Baptism we had an appointment with Anthony and we were running late.. I had prewarned him earlier that day that we might be so that was ok. Normally we meet at a members house.. one of his friends houses cause he has a ton of friends that are members and he will normally set it up unless we already have.. anyway neither of us had told the people whose house we thought we were meeting at about it so he got there and they had a whole ton of family there.. woops awkward! So I frantically (while still trying to pack up after the baptism) started calling people! To add to the stress of that jam packed crazy day no one was answering! Then sister Westover suggested sister Hulbert... she was someone we had had dinner with and she has shared her amazing conversion story! I called her and she answered straight away! She said she would be there in 20 minutes! Wow!

She was sooo amazing..That was definately meant to be. He could relate so well becuase he is going through a similar process like she did. He said in that lesson too that every time that he thinks about what happened to Joseph Smith it makes more sense. He is getting so close and Heavenly Father is really showing him that! I really am excited for the moment he knows he needs to get baptised. He is praying! I really hope he figures out that he already knows.

Ok so being a trainer is hard! But I actually have it a little harder. Sister Krauss is very special and requires a lot more. At the moment we are working on interpersonal skills..eg how she should sit in lessons and church, how she should act in public so that she can effectively show that she is a representative of Christ, what she should wear, how she should talk eg slowly and softly so that she and the investigator have time to feel the Spirit. I am also helping her learn the lessons. I got her to go through and write down dot points of things that stand out to her in each principle of the first lesson. This morning I had her read me the dot point and bare her testimony of it in a way that it would make sense to the investigator and so that she can see that she can do that in the lesson when I teach a principle.. she can pick out the key principle I have taught and bare her testimony. Some she had to repractice a few times but she is really getting there. Plus I asked her practice how she should sit and talk as she is doing it so that she can get the hang of it. We are just taking things really slowly. One day at a time. It is hard but I am just trying to follow the spirit and use PMG but break it down so that she can understand. I am telling her the positive things that she is doing and she is improving!

At the moment I am mostly teaching by myself and that is stressful, hoping I havent missed something or that they can understand it. I am excited for when i can let her start stepping in but that is a little way off. Things are good there though. I am just trying to stay positive and I am thankful that I had a blessing. It really helped be able to remember that this is for a reason and that God is helping with my decisions in this process. I am greatful that I can trust him because I dont know if I could do it alone.

I love you all and I dont have time to write back so I will put on the top of the list for next week.

Success

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not emailing yesterday! I was in Boise picking up my new Greeny or baby as they call it out here! No wonder why I was feeling sick! Yep I am training a new missionary! Weird and intimidating and slightly annoying cause now I will always be a senior companion! Now if things go wrong it is my fault! MAN!!!

But we are beginning under a new training system where we have companion study for 2 hours rather than 1. We have a program of what to study and I really have to teach her alot! It is going to be fun in that way. Lots of learning for both of us I am sure though.

We got transfer calls on Friday and I almost died! I was like what! No way! But I had been feeling earlier in the transfer like I was going to train but brushed it off becuase there are people who have been out longer than me that haven't trained yet. So when we got home that night and I prayed and I was asking for HF to help me love her and be a great trainer to her, I had the impression come to my mind that this will be a challenge but it is what will help me develop qualities that Heavenly Father wants me to develop. Some qualities that I was told that I have in my Patriarchal blessing. Because of this I was very nervous picking her up and wasnt as excited as most people are becuase of the nerves and it was quickly evident to me how this will be a challenge. But it is right and she is a wonderful sweet spirit. I am excited to serve with her.

Sister Krauss comes from a small town called Waterton New York and her dad is in the Army so she calls herself an army bratt. It turns out that I had bought this random picture of someone in an army outfit kneeling with their hands clasped in prayer with an angel or the saviour with his hands on her shoulder. It was just a little 50cent photo but I thought of it last night and I wrote a card thanking Sister Krauss for being my companion and that she isnt just an army bratt but now she is my missionary bratt hehe! She really liked it and said the photo has a deeper meaning cause she said that her brother had died when he was 2 and her mum had always said he is watching out for her.

So back to last week. The baptism went really well and President and Sister Cannon came! I was so glad we set the room up super nice and were really organised for this one hehe! Wesley is the cutest 10 year old ever and really seemed to have got what he was doing. He was really appreciative and just CUTE!

Romiro is getting baptised this Saturday! It is confirmed and he is excited! His little brother Michael who is autistic is getting baptised too even though he doesnt really need to. That is all coming together now. I am so happy for him because teaching him and his family really has been one of the most uplifting and rewarding experiences. I have alot to learn from him!

Sorry that I havent been able to get any letters to the people that I have promised them too. I havent had time to finish my letters or send any of them for about a month so now they are all out of date any way! I stink! But I should be able to get there now that we arent going to the temple all day and having to cut our P-days short for other things.

Last Thursday and Friday we went to the Youth conference here! It was so fun! We got to be the filmographer people.. however you spell that! So we walked around taking videos of people and asking them questions. We took some of Jericho Rd too! They are the coolest people... well except for the one that is single and hit on me even though I am a missionary! Ew! He was gross! I got them to sign my CD which was fun! They are super good live.
Sad story though.. some kids driving home had a huge crash on Thursday night and 3 of them died and the other is still in a critical condition. I am hoping that we got them on our video!

Well I had better get to work!

I love you all and hope you are well!

6 months!

Hello everyone!

How are you all? I miss you all alot! Thank you for the emails!!! I really really love hearing how things are going! I wish it was christmas so that I could talk to you all again!! So many great things are happening there!

Well! We are busy! This week we are going to be helping out a multi-stake youth conference filming everyone and doing other things that they are wanting us to do! Guess who will be there!!! Jericho Road!! I am sure that atleast a few of you know who they are?? if not google them. One of them grew up here in one of the wards we cover! So that should be fun! Plus we have to work in all of our normal appointments and things that we do and this is the last week of the Transfer and Sister Westover will probably be transferred so we will have to do extra visits! Wew! I love being busy!

So yesterday was the 4th of July and it was my 6 month mark! Can you believe it has been that long? I can't!
Yesterday was sooo fun! Here is how it went!
Woke up went straight to the town of Adrian's breakfast celebration- saw some investigators and less actives and had fun laughing!
Then we went back to Nyssa and taught the young boy that has his baptism this weekend! He is so stinking cute though, I love teaching kids 12 and under cause they give the best responses!
Then we went home for some study time and lunch and I learnt some super cool stuff from Alma chapter 8 I think it was, just how awesome it is to have been brought up in a family that has started the Gospel traditions and kept them going! I am so glad I am not a jerk like the Ammonihahs who fell away and became really hard hearted, which is also like alot of the less actives we meet out here! Plus we all have experiences like Alma just not to that scale! Even Alma found transfers hard. Being transferred stinks hehe!

Ok enough of that. Then we went to Vale!! It was sooo fun! They had a small town parade and we went over to one of our favourite persons in the whole world's house named Sister Jacob! She is an absolute crack up! She had a water fight with her husband and whole family while we were there and they "accidently got me" as we were trying to leave haha.
There were all these people dressed up riding horses, driving old cars.. I took a couple of photos of them for you dad, an old fire engine, the school did a float and they super soaked people while they went by, tons of the shops in town did something and they threw out lollies and gave people flowers and stuff. It was an awesome experience! My first float parade! Plus we got a referral!

Then after that we had to go home so that I could get changed!
Then we went to one of the biggest families in Nyssa's celebration for dinner and I only ate salad! They did this whole show thing with their family and sang american songs and did this bell ringing thing etc... plus we spent time with one of there family members that isnt a member but that we have been trying to work with.

The we had strict orders to be home by 9pm even though it doesnt get dark here till about 9:30 so we missed their fireworks but thats ok.

Last week we went through the Temple with someone who had been inactive for ages! We went with her again this morning! She was crying and just loved it. She was so ready and prepared!

Plus we went to the Owhyee ward on Sunday and a less active we have been working with finally brought his family to church and they loved it! They want to come back. There is a long story behind him but we seem to have a special bond cause he was adopted out of an Australian family. We have been having great discussions and are just getting along great there!

I really wish I could just give you a day by day recount because too much happens in a week but I dont have enough time!!! Things are going some much better out here now! It is really exciting but we are still doing all we can to find people and progress the work further!

I have also been learning alot about Spirit world lately and how important it is that we forgive one another! Its really really important!

Ok I need to go! Sorry this is such a rush but we have to end our P-day early today!

Love you all!

So much success!

Hello family!!!

Ahhh the tender mercies of the Lord!! This past week was filled with them! It seems even at home with you guys.

I will start with the most exciting news.. this month if all goes well we will have a baptism on the 9, 16, 23 :) One is an eight year old but it still counts. Her family was less active and so we have been teaching her the lessons. Her name is Rylee Day and she is really sweet. Her little sister is Taylee (6) and she has blonde hair so I am her favourite and Rylee has brown hair and so does Sister Westover so sister Westover is her favourite! They told us that when we had dinner at their house on Sunday! Hehe. We helped them move in and with tons of stuff. It just been so amazing to be there and see their lives change and get put back together through the Gospel.

The one on the 9th is a 10 year old boy and he almost got baptised when he was 8 but got scared and so we are working with him to help him with that. He is a cute kid who is here with his Grandparents. They got permission from the his parents to have him baptised and he will go to church with his Sister back where he lives. He is a cute kid.

The next is a 13 year old boy lol. All kids but this kid is amazing! He is extremely mature. He reads everything that we tell him to and can perfectly recount what it said and how he felt. He loves learning and really wants to keep the commandments. He comes from a kinda rough back ground. His dad lives with them but his dad has his struggles and so his mum has had to be the breadwinner and bring up some of her daughters kids. They are the cutest little girls. He helps his mum with everything and is extremely respectful to her. More respectful than any other kid I have seen his age. His mum joined the church about 10 years ago and quickly became less active becuase she was going through alot. So we have been teaching her almost like you would someone who is hearing about the church for the first time!
So Sunday we had an amazing experience with them. Oh they are the ones that I told you about where my hiccups went away for the lesson! Sorry I probably told you most of that stuff already.. sorry all the days smoosh into one out here!
Ok so we have been praying for Romiro to feel ready for baptism and we had asked twice previously how he felt about it and was always nervious and didnt want to. Last week we had taught them about following the prophet and this week we went through the chapter we had left them and then watched on the Lord's Errand which is a biography type thing of Pres Monsons life. It was so powerful. We have an amazing Prophet and really what got him there was listening to the promptings of the Spirit. There were so many times through the movie where Romiro or his mum would just look at us and kinda go wow or something. It is an amazing movie. At one particular part in this movie, they tell of when he is called to be on the Stake Presidency in the middle of some sought of meeting without any prior warning. He was only in his early 20's I think and they asked to come up and give an impromptu talk and tell them if he will accept the calling. As he is walking up to the stage he said that he felt the last line of the song come into his mind which were " Have courage my boy to say no, have courage my boy to say no." It was a song on the word of Wisdom or something. And then the wards changed in his mind to.. "Have courage my boy to say Yes". As this was said.. impressed in my mind was "Romiro needs to be baptised in three weeks and for the next two weeks he needs to pray about it."
So after the movie we asked them how they felt about it and the parts they liked etc.. we talked about it alot and then Sister Westover shared a powerful testimony on the Prophet and I knew it was my turn. The Spirit had just been getting stronger and stronger in the room. Just as I started describing the part I liked, the dad walked in the house and then like two seconds after that the two little girls poked their heads in for no reason and then walked back outside. Opposition! Then I started again and I cannot remember how I said it but I just felt the Spirit fill the room and I told him what I had felt at that point. I talked about how much we felt god loved them when we were with them, how much he cared about them and that they could know the things we were telling them even enough to take away my hiccups.. such a simple thing. Then i told him what I had felt at that moment and asked him how he felt. He said nervous but excited, like it feels right.
The we got to read where they were up to in the BOM which was 1 Nephi chapter 3... another tender mercy! It was such a powerful lesson. He is praying. The date is set. Listen to promptings!

Well that was a long winded one and now I dont have time to tell you anything else even though I want to!

I love you all!!

A dry spell broken

Holy Hawkeye!!! What a great week!

Happpppppyyy Fatthhers day again!!!!

Ok so Saturday broke a six month dry spell for this area! Dan got baptised! It was so exciting. We decorated the room all nice and filled the font ourselves and it was just fun...... I did a musical item!!! It was the least scared I have ever been to sing infront of people and lots of people said it was good. I sang "teach me to walk in the light" with Dan's fellowshipper. Here is how we arranged it:
I sang the first verse
Brother Cambell sang the second verse
Then we sang at the same time me singing the first verse and him singing the second
Then we sang the last verse together
Then we sang half of the last line slower to finish.
Any way that was fun and Dan's daughter and son in law who are the only ones of his kids that are members came and they gave the talks! It was so cute. His daughter balled the whole way through and was just so happy! It really was powerful to watch and be a part of! When the bishop got up to do his welcome to the ward he got a few people to come up and say a few things and he got us up and so we got to thank Dan and share alot about how we felt! It was a great baptism. Plus his sick wife came! She is really cute too! I am so excited becuase if all goes well I shoudl be here for them to be sealed in the templ!

Then the next day we went to Dan's ward to see him get confirmed and to get the Aaronic priesthood!! He is a changed man. His countenance is so different!. Ahhh so good!

Then Sunday was awesome! We had a great day seeing people but then yesterday happened!!!----

So we had an appointment first thing where we were going to be teaching follow the Prophet and Word of Wisdom. But since breakfast I had had the hiccups! It was pretty funny. They were coming like every 10 seconds, it was a pain. So I was a wee bit worried walking into that lesson and I was hiccuping as we were having our small talk at the start. They thought my hiccups were funny... then... Sister Westover said the opening prayer and she prayed that they would go away for the lesson and I said a silent prayer that they would go away and they did! I still felt like I needed to hiccup for a little while and that eventually left too and we had a great lesson! They are the coolest family! But its like the elder that was in my first district who had terrets.. he never ever had it in a lesson! This is really not our work.. He perfects us so that it can be his.

Then we had lunch :)

Thennn... we felt like we should go see a less active lady named sister brandt.. well she moved but her friend who we had met and a few times lives there now... She is a less active too and waayyyy more receptive than sister brandt. We had an awesome chat with her and she said we could start teaching her the lessons. We are going to help her paint too. It was exciting. She really wants to have the gospel back in her life and she knows she just needs a little help. She is going to fit in so well in her ward too!

Then... we went and saw Leo who is this guy who owns a shop in town who studies the bible all day long so we took him some scriptures to show him why church is on Sunday cause he used to be 7th day adventist

Then, We had dinner and it was awesome!!!! I ate too much hehe but it was worth it!

Then we went to the church and prayed and felt like we should go see this less active that the Bishop had told us we should see. We went to what we thought was he house. We werent sure what if it was her house and I felt like it wasnt her house but to try it anyway.. We walked up to the door and this big scary guy answered the (the lady Stephanie who we were meant to see was supposed to be divorced) door. We intodruced ourselves and said we were there to see stephanie... he was like oh shes on the couch.. come on in! We went in and introduced ourselves and I was like.. this is weird. This is not matching her description so I asked for her last name! It was a totally different Stephanie that lived on the same street. So we had a little laugh and chatted for a bit and then... we taught her the plan of salvation! We are going back on Saturday to teach her again!!! Cool hey!
Then we went to the other Stephanies real house after calling the Bishop and she wasnt home lol

Then we went to Marci Freoer's house a potential investigator.. she is married to a member and she was home finally! Farmers are some of the busiest people in the world! She took us to pick asparagus and we laughed with her alot!!!! We are going to help her one day on her farm and she is going to take us for a tour in the onion processing place. And hopefully amongst this we can convince her to let us teach her!!!

So that was our fun day yesterday!

The whole of last week and this week we have seen many tender mercies and Miracles!

Plus we got to go to the temple this morning with one of my favourite people in the world called sister Jacobs. She is so funny and we had a wonderful time!

Well thats all for today folks! Until next week!

I LOVE YOU ALLL

Happy fathers day

Happy Fathers Day all you Fathers out there!!!!!!

Hi Everybody!

Holy Shamoly we had a cool week! So remember how last week i was telling you that we are doing things to get known with the members... well.. we had like 4 people in the last week either come up to us and introduce us to their friends who they had brought to church or call us and becuase they want to set up a time for us to teach their friends. They all say like.. hey so I asked my friend if she/he wants to take the discussions and they want to so can we make a time for this week! We just had another person from Vale call and set up a time with her friend on Friday! So now we are starting to get all of these solid investigators, being taught in member families homes and I am so excited! That is truly what makes the difference!

So we gave a talk in each ward in the town called Vale on Sunday and the first ward we spoke, the ward mission leader had gotten our fliers printed out and put in the middle of the program. Its really funny opening up the newsletter in a random ward and seeing your face! Not an experience that happens very often! I have attached our flier for your perusal! The person from Vale that called us a moment ago is from the first ward we spoke in. I thought my talk totally bombed the first time but I'm sure it wasn't that bad. I spoke on how love is such an important aspect in missionary work and how keeping every commandment, incl missionary work stems from love! So I made some changes and added some more personal experiences and it went alittle better plus it went better cause I only had to fill my time of 15 minutes. The 1st ward is smaller so everything went shorter and then my companion spoke first and didnt look at the clock and only spoke for about 10 minutes! So I had about 25minutes to fill with a 15 minute talk! I stretched it to 20 and then they had asked the ward mission leader to fill in the time if need be and he did a super good job of rounding everything off. It was probably all meant to be! Plus someone said that I sound like a movie star because of my accent lol!

We have Dan's baptism this Sunday and we just have to create the program we are all done! He is really excited and we have started teaching his wife too who has been inactive for probably 10 years since she was a recent convert! They are such an awesome couple! I cannot wait for them to get sealed in the temple! I hope I can go! That would be my last month in the mission! That would be an awesome thing to end on!

Yesterday we got our oil changed and while we waited we decided to walk down to this old lady's house whom we are trying to convince to let us teach her and on the way there I decided that I needed to tell my companion some of the things she was doing to tick me off hehe.. so we were only half way done when we were almost at her house so we walked down the street next to it so we could sought it out and there was some people who saw us and called us over and so we got to teach them a little lesson. It was this old lady who and her two middle aged kids and they were talking about some of the things that were troubling the old lady because over half of her ten kids had died all different ways, some when they were little, one got ran over by a train, some from drugs and alcohol etc. So we got to share a with her that she will see them again and they want us to come back some time! Cool hey! I was inspired to be irritated hehe! Not really but there is a reason for everything and we really did get to work through alot of things, figure out alot of our insecurities which were creating different reactions in each other and make goals and stuff so that was fun!

I am so happy to hear how you all being blessed at home! It sounds like things are going well and opportunities are arising for all of you!

Thank you again for the emails and letters! I got the bio oil and my skin is enjoying it!

There are always so many things that I can write but I forget things past like two days! oh but something that I am really excited about is that we are still waking up every morning and are exercising! Everyday for a month! Its a habit! Just have to keep going! Endure the End!

Loveeeeee

Hello everyone!

Sunday was such a great day! We had to do a lesson in Young Womens! It was fun being back there for a day! I am so glad that I am not a teenager anymore hehe! It interesting when it is fast Sunday and you are your normal grumpy self who usually uses sleep to make it through fast Sunday but still having to work and go out and see people. You really have to rely on Heavenly Father for strength, but now I love fast Sunday because relying on him makes it turn out way better and you really are more receptive to the Spirit! Take that Natural man!

So we had the afternoon to see people! It was sooo cool! We had one appointment booked with the family that has the 13year old boy for 3pm and we had put some names down to take up the rest of our time. So straight after church (which after we stayed for two wards we get out 1:30) we prayed to confirm who we should go see. We felt we should go see Sarah Jensen who we hadn't seen in ages since our initial contact.. she had cancelled that appointment we set up and didnt know when she could make another one. In that prayer I had the feeling also that we should go and see the Mata family at 7pm. So we went to Sarah Jensen's... They were home!!! She asked us one billion questions and we set up another appointment. Then we had our appoinment and the ward mission leader came! He is a smart man and jsut so good! The mother of Romero really learns from him too! He is inspired. (So get this story right.. The mum of Romero who is Racquel joined the church about 10 years and quickly fell away.. One of her visiting teachers said that she didnt want anyone to go see her so they never did. Then Brother Hartley (WML) and his wife decided that they should go see her as Sister Hartley got given her to Visit teacher. They went and Racquel invites them straight in and came straight back to church. Her visiting teachers came their diligently and now we are teahing her kids!!! Morel of the Story...Do your visitting teaching no matter what you may have heard about the person!) It was a great lesson and then we taught Romero's little brother who is 12 and severely autistic so we just teach him a little bit at a time and give him things to colour and stuff so that he remembers.

Then we had dinner:)

Ok soo after that we were like hmm ok what now.. So we prayed and the Booths came into our head. We went there and knocked three times and no one answered so we were about to leave when I saw a million bubbies!!!! Everyone has puppies, kittens, baby horses and calves etc here at the moment! Its fun! So I was like.. I have to go see them.. so me be my absent minded self walked into their back yard to see the bubbies hehe! Then the person we had come to see came out the back door!!! He had been downstairs and wasnt sure if he had heard knocking! So we got to talk to him too and work out his working hours and stuff for visits!

After that it was about 7ish so we went over to the Mata's house! Who was home also! Had we gone any earlier we would not have caught him cause he had just got home from work!!!! They had been busy but he still wanted to learn more and he has time this week!We set up an appointment and chatted with them for a while
Then we went over to see another guy named Louis and we brought his neighbour who is a member.. whose grandson was over, who is 10 and not baptised and so we will be teaching him so that he can get baptised this Summer! They still have to get written permission from his Dad though so we just have to wait a little bit!
Plus the kids Grandma gave me some enzymes and now food hurts me way less (for the last two days any way)!

Yesterday we had a cool experience where we were praying and random name popped in my head who we have been trying to contact since I got here and hadnt writted down that day but just lived up the street a bit. Went there! They were home!! We are going back sometime this week!

Well folks, it is important that we follow the Spirit because then things actually go good! Plus I am sooo excited now! It makes us happy when we do what he wants done! We are not responsible for any of our success! If we talk to him, he will show us the right path!

I love you all!

5 months a missionary

Hello everyone!

What a great week have had! My companion is staying! It's a good thing becuase I don't really know this area well enough! I would have spent alot of the Lords time lost! My mission president is definately inspired hehe! I am glad that she is staying becuase it is very overwhelming having to teach someone such a large area so the work can only progress so much. We spent most of last transfer finding and we were blessed for that but now we are focusing on organising things here so that they run smoother and getting the members more involved! We have met with alot of bishops and ward mission leaders, have given talks the last two Sundays.. we are planning on sharing our testimonies in the other wards that we attend tis Sunday, we are giving talks in two wards on the 12th, we have already planned for a fireside that two of the wards that are farthest away will attend.. probably just for the youth and we will hopefully do one in all the other wards.. hopefully two wards will attend the one fireside. We have created fliers so that people can get to know us! It's fun! I love feeling busy and involved!

We have just starting teaching the 18 year old boy who was referred by his friend (who is a girl.. hehe its cute to watch) but he is doing it for himself!!! It is so great to see a young boy at that age who for no reason other than he thinks its wrong, hasn't drank or smoked and knows that religion is important! He is such a cool kid... so we gave him a reading assignment after teaching him and the next time we met with him again he was like... so I read what you told me to and then I couldn't help but start reading it from the beginning.... 9 chapters worth! Then he proceeded to accurately explain the whole story line! It was so cool! We are teaching him again tonight so we will see how it goes!

I finished reading the Book Of Mormon for the first time on my mission last week!! What an awesome feeling! I have learnt so much and everything is really starting to come together in it for me. Our mission President has challenged us to read it in three months so I am up 3 Nephi 12 already again! There is so much personal application in the book of Mormon I know that it is meant for us. It is such a blessing in our lives if we just take the time each day to read it! Just 20 minutes a day is all we are asked to do! Thats not that hard, Satan just likes to make us think it is!

We are teaching another 13 year old boy... we are teaching so many boys/men its crazy! He is almost ready for baptism.. we asked him last time and he is feeling it. He has been really prepared though! It's the ones that keep their committments who progress! It is so exciting to watch people gain testimonies! I am so lucky to be part of this!

I have been out 5 months at the end of this week! Weird!

Zone Conference

Good morning everyone!

I have had a great last week and I hope that you all did too! Happy Birthday Kristen! I hope your party went well! I am sure it did! Please send me photos :) ! This year will be a great one for you! I just know it!

I also hope that Marina is enjoying her visit and that the weather is being nice for her!

This past week was busy! We had a Sisters Conference on Friday, a Zone Conference yesterday, managed to squeeze in some tracting and teach 19 lessons! We have a for sure baptismal date with Dan now and he is doing so well. Basically it was just a very well rounded week.
It is just so great to know that when you are truly humbled and dont boast in your own strength how the blessings follow.

We had 2 great lessons with Wes last week and he came to church on Sunday. He is learning how to search the scriptures and find answers for himself which is really great. He is finally progressing and I know that Heavenly Father has guided us in how to help him get there. We also brought a member to his lesson on saturday. She was so good! Having members at lessons is so important and the members here are so willing to do what they can to help in this great work. Having her there bearing her testimony, rather than it just being us and the normal person that we have brought to all of his lessons, I think really helped him see it from another perspective and just to listen more intently.

Sisters conference was a wonderful exprience. I got to meet all of the Sisters in the mission, hear their opinions about things and learn with them. Alot of the time I feel like I know so little and I am just really greatful that we have companions that back us up. I really wish we had more study time!

Zone conference is one of my favourite things we get to do on the mission though! I wish we had one every week! There was a I think he was called at the last conference and apparantly they all have a lunch together and he got to sit at the table with President Monson! How cool is that and he said that President Monson was talking about us, missionary work and how greatful he is for the missionaries. It's still weird that I am a missionary!
Also President Cannon gave a talk and showed part of the talk that M Russell Ballard gave while I was in the MTC! It was such a powerful talk and I am glad that I had a reminder. At the end he gave the story of how Peter truly became the senior apostle. When the Saviour died they all went back to Galilee and started fishing again thinking it was over. They fished all night and caught nothing, then in the morning they saw a fire and a man on the shore. He told them to cast there nets on the other side and they did. Their nets were filled and they could barely bring the catch back into the boat. Peter knew it was the Saviour and dove into the water and swam to shore. The Saviour knowing they would be hungry, had prepared their breakfast. What a thoughtful and loving thing to do. Then the Saviour started questioning Peter.. Peter do you love me? Peter responded, yes of course and you know how the rest of it goes.. He wasnt told to follow the Saviour and feed his sheep just while he was on the Earth, but for always! That is when Peter finally understood. That is when he went out and was able to perform the miracles he did and that is how he becamse the great chief apostle.
This story can be likened to each of us. I am not just a missionary for now. We have all been born into this time for a reason and if you have a look in the bible dictionary under the Abrahamic covenant it explains this too. I found that in one of my studies one time ages ago.

Wow! Sorry for my rant but learning is fun! I really like that story!
In short, Zone conference was awesome!

I am going off to have another nerf war today so wish me luck!

I hope you are all well!

Love you lots

Sister Huckfeldt

Happy mother's day

Hello Everyone!

Wow there are so many mothers in our family now! You all do such an amazing job!

It was sooo wonderful to be able to speak to and see most of you on Sunday! I really love you and miss you all so much! You all look so wonderful! The rain seemed to have done well for everyone!

Well I had another great week as a missionary! Last week was a little harder to get going. It seemed like both me and my companion had a 10kg weight tied to each foot but we got through it and kept going and we were able to find 2 knew investigators and about three other potential investigators! Plusssssss we have a baptismal date with Dan! It is not for about a month so we are a little worried. He is being worked on hard! He has had a few discouraging things happen and he is feeling a bit of anxiety but he is strong and has an extremely good motivation for why he is doing it so he will be ok. He has a daughter in Utah that has to fly up for his baptism so that is why it is so far ahead. So actually something really quite cool happened with Dan! We started our lesson on Saturday and I could just feel something wasnt right. We were going over the reading that we had left him... follow up.. extremely important! Well I was struggling to focus. I couldnt concentrate on what anyone was saying and I just felt so prompted that he needed a blessing. Mid conversation I just said, hang on a second, my heart was pounding and I just opened my mouth and I turned to the man that is Dan's friend who comes to every lesson and said would you mind giving Dan a blessing. Then I turned to Dan and basically just said, remember how we taught you about the priesthood.. then explained that through this you can recieve blessings of comfort and help etc. Then Dan just started explaining how some things have been really hard for him lately and how he has been having anxiety etc. Then I asked him again, Dan would you like a blessing, I know that Heavenly Father would like to help you at this time. He said yes, that he would like one if that is ok. The blessing was so amazing and basically just told him that the things that have been happening were not coming from the Lord and that he had power over them and a bunch of other things. Afterwards he said.. how did you know? I said that I didn't, I just felt it. Experiences like that and seeing the difference in him afterwards have happened a few times on my mission. My testimony of the Priesthood is undeniable, it is truly truly amazing and just shows how much heavenly Father loves us. He really loves his children and I feel so blessed that he was able to work through me in that circumstance.

So the other guy who was being kinda annoying has stopped annoying us! We got to talk to him really good and follow the Spirit to help us with effective questioning and he is meeting with us with the right motivation. We are actually really excited now cause we feel like we can move onto to teaching him commandments and it helped him really understand our purpose and his role in the lessons. So that is great news!

We just started teaching this man who is married to a less active member! I am really excited! We went over there and it all just worked out for us to be able to ask him if he would like the lessons! We somehow got on the topic of how there is a time and a season for everything and then I was prompted to say.. so is this the time for you to take the missionary lesson? He said sure!

In other news one of our investigators dropped us (the one we got from tracting). We think her husband may have put a stop to it cause he is a Catholic and she didnt want him to know. This isnt her time but hopefully she gets another chance!

Missions are fun and so rewarding! I am sooo glad I am on one!

Hello everyone!

I am so happy to have heard from so many of you this week! Marina should be there by now! How exciting! I hope the weather is nice for you!

We taught 17 lessons last week! We were so busy and reached 3 or 4 of our goals! We are so excited! This week hasnt started off quite as good as last week. Yesterday we had four appointments booked and all of them cancelled! We ended up teaching two appointments to different people though and all the other rescheduled so it wasnt that bad.

We are teaching this guy though that I would really like to smack! We have had the most spiritually guided, testimony building and just amazing lessons with him and he continues to be a dufus! He talks himself out of believing everytime! Stinking agency lol! We know that he knows it's true but he has alot of fears. He is in his twenties and really wants to do whats right but for some reason he is scared to pray about what we are teaching him on his own. I am just so exctied for the moment that he finally does pray and get his answer. I think it's the whole action side of things that he is wrestling with, knowing that when he gets his answer that he will have to act on it. We are hanging in there and just supporting him and doing what we can to build his faith and trust!

We are teaching this awesome guy named Dan and he is sooo amazing. He is just the way we all should be! His wife is inactive and she has had home teachers and visiting teachers come consistently! That really makes a difference! Any way so all through out the years he said that he was always like... why arent they wanting to see/speak to me..? And then he made friends with a member who set up for us to start teaching him and he is just Golden? He always keeps his commitments, prays and his motivation is that he is wanting to be sealed to his wife! He doesnt fully understand that yet but we are slowly teaching him (expect becuase he keeps all of his committments he progresses quickly). He has come to church consistently, asked if he can pay tithing already, is keeping the word of wisdom and just so excited! He gets anxious if we arent there on time! He is so childlike! It is great. Saturday we finished teaching him the 3rd lesson or the Gospel of Jesus Christ- Faith, repentance, Baptism, recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End. We had time to start teaching him the commandments and he is jsut so excited to change! We asked him about baptism on Saturday and he said that he is just waiting for us to tell him when he is ready! We said that he is but there are still commandments that we need to teach him but that he can probably be baptised by the end of the month! I am so excited that we are teaching him. It is just so refreshing when they really really want it. He just wants to be ready, so we dont want to rush him into it!

Last week I think I told you about our P-day activity... I am not sure but we did nerf wars! We set up the cultural hall in a war zone and then attacked each other in teams! You just use a pipe and nerfs and your lungs! It is sooo fun! I got shot in the arm though by a poly elder and I got a welt! Well anyway the point of me telling you this is that the Elders brought them to our district meeting too and we used them in our skill check! I am getting really good at aiming! Well I guess there really is no point in me telling you this, just that I seriously need to get some of them when I get home!

As it is mothers day this coming weekend, I hope that you can all get together somewhere at about 12 on Sunday your time as I will be calling Saturday night my time and I would really like to be able to speak to you all! my comp will call the night before to check out the arrangements.. But just to prewarn you!

I love you all and miss you! I am so excited to talk to you this weekend!

A truly wonderful week

How the Lord truly loves his people! We had a wonderful week! This area is not quit as busy as Twin Falls was. We are in the process of building it up and it has alot of potential. We got 3 new investigators in the last week and one through tracting. It was so awesome.

Easter was great but was kinda a normal day except for the fact that it was very thought provoking. The Saviours sacrifice was such an amazing thing for each of us. He truly cars for and knows each one of us.
We had a late lunch/ dinner at some ones house and then we went out and worked. We had an appointment with this great family who always have wonderful questions.

So last week on Friday or Wed or thursday we decided to go tracting and we had the most wonderful experience. We had pulled into the church parking lot and prayed and cause I was new to the area sister Westover asked me to ponder the map. I wrote on a peice of paper, 8 streets that stood out to me, then I handed the list to her. Then a street popped into my head. I was just like... hmmm. I asked for the paper back and wrote it down.. 2nd street. Then we both made smaller lists of three streets from this smaller list that stood out to us(this is the process for tracting). We compared our list and we had both written 2nd street and then sister Westover said... this is weird but we only just tracted this street not long ago but no one was home.. weird but we went.
We tracted the street and alot of people were home and really nice but they didnt want to make an app with us.... untill we came to the last house on the street. A young lady answered the door and was just like, yes I would really like to learn from you. We set a time to come back and that was for yesterday.
The appointment went so well and she is truly searching for a church and the truth. This lesson went the smoothest ever.. it was very mtc but the Spirit was truly there. We are going back tomorrow so I will let you know how it goes!
Me and Sister Westover really discussed how this all happened and just how our faith was involved, the Lords timing and truly his love for his people that he would send us back there! He really does work in marvelous and misterious ways.

Yesterday was an amazing day. They normally have hardly any appointments on Monday and yesterday we taught 5!! I have faith in Mondays! I was feeling really burnt out last week but it just shows that if you keep persisting even when you are tired and fall asleep during church lol the Lord will bless you! We just kept going, kept working and yesterday made it all worth it. I am excited to tract more now and I am jsut so happy that even in such a small town the Lord is preparing people.

We always offer to serve where ever we go and I think we will have 2 opportunities to do this coming up so I am excited! To pick asparagus and paint! Should be fun

General Conference ROCKS!

Well, this has to be a super quick one!

Conference was soooo amazing! WOW I cried in the last session.
I love that I get to watch conference in a totally different way. Thinking of how each different talk might apply to investigators. But seriously this conference is inspired! Pay attention! No napping!!!

So something really cool happened in the last session. I basically had the whole layout of the next lession come to me for an inactive member who I love! She is going through the hardest time possible and I just felt soo strongly that Heavenly Father loves her and is aware of her through her trails. I knew I needed to tell her that. I knew what I needed to do to keep her boys busy and seriously the whole thing was inspired. I just hope she felt that. She is the same person that on wednesday we felt like we should go see even though we were sitting in the front of another persons house about to go in and she had just been thinking about us and wondering when we would come by. Then we went to her house for the first session of conference. The song I know that my Redeemer lives, follows her around. It was sung in that session. It is really a msg for her and all of us! That is my favourite song too! Heavenly Father seriously knows us all individually and loves us individually and uniquely. Never forget that.

We got another 3 investigators last week! One is already pretty much a member and is ready for baptism but is just waiting for their dad to get the priesthood but we still have to teach her. Our lesson this week was great! Plus we are teaching two knew people from Napal. I am actually starting to understand other peoples accents! Blessings!

We had exchanges from Sunday to Monday! It was fun, but I never want to leave my area! I love it here. I am sure that I will love every area but I am happy here for now. I had fun seeing how I addapt and being able to analyse how I do things. I learnt a tonn!!!

I love you all! Sorry this is so short! Watch conference!

First Baptism

Hello everyone!

So I have already taken up most of my time repyling to emails! Buuuttt we had a baptism on Saturday and it was soooo great! Nate was just beaming! It was the cutest thing I have ever seen out of a 13 yr old boy. He was so nervous and so excited. His foster parents had a little party for him after and it made him feel so special. It was such a great day!

We met a new investigator last week and had a ton of great lessons!

Sooo Sunday being my birthday but it was also my first talk that I had to give in Sacrament on my mission day! We were assigned to speak on missionary work lol! I was the second speaker and Sister Lovett first spoke on being bnetter member missionaries and then I spoke on the reason that we do missionary work. She thought of her topic as soon as we got the assignment and then I was like huh... well what the heck should I speak about now. Well I was prayign and thinking and praying somemore and then when we were leaving the baptism I thought of it and wrote it down in my planner. I wish you guys could have been there. I prepared for maybe an hour and a half tops sooo I was nervous!!! But it seemed to go good. I talked about the scripture in 3Nephi 12:14-16 about each of us having a light and that we were given it after baptism and then went on to talk about the joy that we can feel and that we want everyone to have that and thats why we do it. I set a scene for them by descibing what it is like when you are sitting across from a friend and are watching them feel the spirit and what joy that can bring you.. thats the really short version. Do missionary work though! It makes us happy I promise!

Then Sunday! It is so great being able to go to three Sacrament meetings. It is such a great way to start the week. So thought provoking and helps me refocus. I sware Mondays and Wednesdays are always the best becuase Monday is after the day we take the sacrament and Wednesday is the day after we go to the temple!

Yesterday was another great day. Saturday the 19th we were at an investigators house, Jennifer and one of her friends was over who turned out to be a less active. She was surprised that we were sisters. She had been converted by some sisters about 3 years ago and went less active about October last year. We asked if we could stop by. We visited with her and her daughter and taught them about the blessings that come from the standard mormon answers of going to Church, Praying and reading the scriptures. They said that they had wanted to come back to church but they werent sure which one to attend. Before the appt we weren't sure if they lived in our area so we asked the district leaders and it turns out that they are actually living few houses out of our area and live in their area. The ward boundaries are set up real weird here. But they wanted sisters so we went by the first time and taught that lesson and told them to go to the elders ward. So Monday we arrange for the District leaders to meet us there so that they can look out for them at church and be a support for them too. That morning my companion was really sick so she stayed in bed most of the morning. I woke upo like usual and kept the normal morning routine and I had been thinking about them and what to teacht them. I kept having conflicting things come into my mind and so I decided to just study like I normally would and then sister Lovett still wasnt out of bed so I started comp study on my own. I prayed and told Heavenly Father that my companion was sick and that I needed to know what to teach Crystal and Asha. Faith popped into my head so I revised and looked up more scriptures on that. I realised that would be a good way to follow up from last time too. I talked to Sister Lovett about what I thought and that was the plan we went with.
We met the Elders there and Asha was at school so we jut met with Crystal. We talked for a while and the Elders got to know her, it was great and she seemed pretty comfortable with them comign cause we surprised her with them but I felt really strongly they should come. We had a prayer and I started by saying basically just that we would like to talk about faith today. I asked her what faith is to her. She said this is where her issue has been, she then proceeds to tell us that she has just lost a baby cause of complications in the birht. The doctor had used forcepts to get the baby and accidently cut the umbilical cord or something and the baby bled to death. This is the second baby she has lost. Another died at 7 months. So sad! She has 3 others too. And then we have the most spiritual lesson ever. I cant remember a ton of what was said but I remember that I looked at her and said something like, Heavenly Father must have thought you were pretty special to have entrusted you in being the mother of two of his most precious and righteous children who only had to come to this Earth to get a body.. something like that and she cried. She is so awesome and she really hasnt lost she knows she just needed to withdraw for a time but she knows she is ready to come back.
It was awesome and the other cool thing was that after our last lesson her daughter she told us that Asha was like, mum when are we going to read and they were going to go to church but she had to work a double shift that day so she missed it but she has asked for Sundays off so that she can come!

We had a great visit with the Flora's yesterday. We taught them the commandments with all of the hand actions and they did really well.

I hope you are all as pumped for conference as I am.

Love you all

A day in the life of a Missionary

Oh my goodness everyone! You are all so amazing and I love hearing from you. You all sent such amazing news, cute photos and thankyou for all the birthday wishes! I am so excited for my birthday. I sware I am still like a 5 year old when it comes to my birthday.. just randomly throwing it into conversations that I have "oooohh and guess what Its the day of my birth this Sunday!" Thanks for allowing me this priviledge to be alive!

We had a massive day yesterday! It is probably my favourite day so far this transfer! Ok so here is how it went:
Woke up at 6:30 and exercised, ate breakfast, got ready, studied an awesome chapter on missionary work in Alma 17! So amazing, its still the same as it was then but it gave me a few things I can work on.
Then at 10am we went to paint a members house. There foster son is the one that is getting baptised this Saturday. We invited our whole district and all of them came so we had a great time, working, talking and laughing. I love how often we get to do service! Then we taught him, Nate a lesson on the Law of Chastity and the 10 commandments and just to let you know teaching the Law of Chastity to a 14 year old is very awkward! I may or may not have laughed multiple times through out the lesson. What an example I am hehe!
Then we raced from there to another appointment with a recent convert but she wasn't there so we went and contacted a referral and made an appointment with her for Wednesday. Then we raced to dinner which was the best taco's I think I have ever eaten. This dinner was with one of our ward missionaries families so it was fun also. Then we raced to meet a member who was coming to our next appointment and raced (when I say raced I really mean drove camly and the speed limit as I am a missionary so I can't race like I used to, plus we are on the Lords time out here lol) over to this family, the mum is less active (she hasn't been for about 10 years) and the kids are all like, hey you need to teach us longer!! One of the kids is set on getting baptised. But the mum is passive about the whole thing. We just have to teach them more stuff so that they know what they are actually doing and so the mum knows why it is so important. But this kid is so amazing! He is only 8 but you should have heard his first prayer ever! He didn't even want help and it was so heartfelt and beautiful. They all have their own BOM and love to read. They fight over whose turn it is. Its really cute.
Ok so that appointment went over but that was ok because we had arranged for the Bishop and his wife to be at our next appoinment so they just got aquainted with him. I am not sure if I have told you about this investigator or not, but all the days mush into one and I forget things so sorry if I am being redundant about these people. Any way he is this guy in his late 30's who work a bizzilion hours a week becuase he is the Sue Cheff for the nicest and biggest restaurant in town and everytime that we go there he has had another spiritual experience. I think I must have told you about him.. he is the one that had the Book of Mormon fall off the table from being in the middle of the table so he read it and had a way better day cause he was totally calm after he read that day. So this week the Bishop was there to help us talk about the Priesthood, Prophets and how important church is etc. Last week we had gone through the Gospel of Christ so Faith, Repentance, Baptism, recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the end. We had talked about the priesthood and how important it is for these ordinances so before we went any further we wanted to clear a few things up about personal revelation and revelation that comes from church leaders etc. The lesson we have with this guy are always soo amazing! I think I may have talked a little much this time but I have just decided to say the good things that I feel prompted to say and to cast out all fear. At one stage he had just finished sharing all of these experiences and I felt impressed to tell him that we would never ever push him into baptism, but that I felt I should point out to him that from the experiences that he is having that it appears that he is being prepared to make the covenants of baptism and to have the Holy Ghost with him all the time. He recognises promptings, he has stopped drinking, he is starting to develop Christ like attributes and all these different things that I pointed out to him and related them to each different covenant. I love teaching about the Priesthood and having the Bishop there was amazing!
Woo! So after that we were super late for our next appointment with Martha Ann (who is another gigantic story that I may or may not have already told you). She is a less active in the heaviness of trials. So we popped over and she didn't mind but we had a half hour discussion with her about trials and how important they are. We are starting to teach the missionary discussions with her tonight so it worked out well.
Then we finally went home and were 5minutes late! Uh oh! Then we planned, prayed, prepared for bed and I wrote in my Journal, prayed again and went to sleep. Oh and just so you know, missionaries do pray a ton, we pray before every appointment and house we go into and just alot. I like it!
So there is a really long winded day in the life of a missionary.
Last week I had a cool experience with one of our investigators. We turned up at her house and she wasn't there so I rang her and she said that her sister had flown in the night before and she was in Buhl visiting and was tired so she could come. She didn't sound good so I said ok and just joked a bit to try and make her feel better. We had a member there so we chatted for a bit and just as she was about to drive away, Chris calls me back and said "I am sorry, I just lied to you but I knew you would understand. I realised after I hung up that it is probably the best thing I can do right now is to meet with you. I have just recieved bad news from the doctor and was also visiting a friends grave who had died 6 months ago today and so I was just a little sad when you called. I really want to meet with you so I will be there soon. And I just said I understood and said I look forward to seeing her soon and then I said Bye Fibby! This is the kind of relationship I have with her. She came and we had an awesome lesson with her! She has the best questions and the spirit is so stong in her home. We actually talked about the Priesthood with her too becuase we had been talking with her husband about getting his Patriachal blessing.. I hope I told you about that cause that was a cool story, let me know if I didn't. She gets the difference now in our church than others and why it is important etc!

Ok Soo I had better get going. My companion was done writing like half an hour ago...

I love you all and miss you!

Joy in the journey

Hello wonderful family,

I really loved your emails this week! So possitive and happy! I love you all and miss you all! Sometimes it feels like forever till I will be able to be normal again and see you all again but I guess that by the time I get there I won't want to be normal any more but I'll be sad that I can't be a missionary! I decided I should probably start with the mass email to everyone today so that I have time to write something decent to you all.

Soooooo I have had a weird week but still good. Since Sister Thomas left I have been a bit stressed hehe. I have had to teach my companion everything about our area, learn how to drive on the other side of the road and notice all the street signs and stuff on the opposite side of the road (I accidently ran a red light cause I didnt see the lights hehe shhhh don't tell anyone... but we lived!) and basically just lead the area. My companion is the senior companion but it is kinda hard for her to lead when she doesn't know any one that we teach... so I have been walking away from lessons being like.. did I say the right thing, did I prepare enough. I am just learning to trust that I am really here for a reason and that Heavenly Father knows exactly what I am going to say before I am going to walk in there and that whatever happens is his will. Nothing has gone bad yet as far as I can see so I am trying to stop the little voices that are telling me I am not good enough.

We have about 6 investigators that have committed to baptism and almost all of them have had something that we will have to work through with them. There is one family who are so amazing and all I want for them is to be together forever but its going to be a process. The dad is inactive but he and his two kids were at church on Sunday! Yay! His wife wants to be baptised. She is the sweetest person that I have probably ever met but she always has to work on Sunday which makes it hard and she has something else that she has to deal with. I have never felt my heart ache for someone as much as I have for her. The day she goes into that water and comes out a new person will truly be a momentous day. Her three girls will probably be baptised at the same time so it is really amazing to watch all of their growth as they work towards that.

So Dianne who was just baptised is doing amazingly well! She has a job now and tons of the people who live in the homeless shelter are being changed from her experience. I spoke to her yesterday and she was like "when he promised blessing I never realised that they wouldn't just be for me!" She got baptised and the following week, a bunch of the people who had been living in the womens shelter with her but for months before her without a job and they all got jobs the next week! Either a coinidence or the verse in Alma 7 coming true (see the bottom of this email). So the week of her baptism she moves into a homeless shelter which was like the end of the world for her as it would be for most but was surrounded by people who were supporting her rather than the jerks she lived with before! She is just a changed person from the first day I met her, making the most out of every situation and truly recognising her blessings. She will be able to live at the homeless shelter with all her food and housing paid for and pay off all of her bills, have fun with all the other people, it is totally drug and alcohol free- they check and stuff, so basically has this chance to build he life up the way she wants it! And she has seen that and is so happy! I am so happy, talking to her is one of my favourite things to do now!

So we taught an investigator that Sister Thomas and I found tracting this week! It was the first lesson that Sister Lovett and I had taught together so I felt it went bad but he told us we could come back and teach him more so it could have been that bad. We had an awesome tracting experience this week too! I have been tracting 3 times and not for very long any time but I am weird and like it so we do it when we can! I have faith in it so thats probably why we have some success in this town of people that have all been sent anti by another church. I think that is very Christlike of them don't you? I think its kinda funny cause it actually got the missionaries more work then doing the opposite. This week we followed this plan in this book that tells us to do a ton of different things to receive inspiration before going out and tracting. It involved a ton of praying, not that we don't already pray a ton. But any way this street on the map stood out to me and my companion we got the street at the time we could and I felt like we should go to a certain door. This first door we stopped at was a member that we knew who stood outside with us and gave us a full rundown of everyone that lived on their street.. who all the members were and who all the inactives were and who would be interested and who wouldn't. Apparantly he and his wife are like the nicest neighbours you could possibly have... they meet every knew person that moves in and out and they are the veterans of the street.. they have been there the longest. They take them presents and stuff on holidays and stuff. Soooo after all this information about each house, there was one door that he said we should go to... They weren't home (anti climax lol sorry) But we are going to go back on a Saturday or something so I will keep you updated on how that goes!

Everyone should read Alma 7 it is my favourite this week. I have used it in almost every lesson and every dinner appointment hehe. Especially verse 11-13 and the last verse, I think it is verse 23. He knows exactly how to help us through any kind of pain and heart ache, and how we learn how we need to get through things is through the Spirit. The Spirit can teach us all things, including how to use the atonement in our specific and individual situations. He knows how to help us we just have to learn how to grasp that. As we learn to do that it can affect everything around us!

Well I love you all a TOOONNNN

Love Sister Huckfeldt
